Our Story

Welcome to the Triple M Highland Beef Co. Where raising Happy, Healthy Scottish Highland Cows is truly a family affair. Amy, Brent, and their daughter Renee founded their farm the Maynard’s Triple M (3 Maynard’s). The Maynard’s Triple M is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Where our Highland graze on the lush green pasture and the babies freely frolic along the hills.

Amy was blessed with a Ranching and Farming heritage in her native Colorado, where she grow up on a ranch high in the Rocky Mountains. Brent also has a farming heritage going back to his great grandfather, who had a large farm in NE Kentucky. Both taught them the love of the land and animals but most importantly to be stewards. It is our duty to protect, safeguard, defend and champion the land and the animals we so dearly love. This is our passion! Grow the highest quality Grass-Fed Highland beef in a way that improves our land and our agricultural system while providing health benefits to our family and customers.

Here at the Maynard’s Triple M, we do things a little different. We raise Scottish Highland cattle. Known as the “Grande Old Breed,” Highland are distinct in their appearance. Their signature long shaggy coats and swooping horns make them easy to identify.  Highland Cattle are a Gaelic breed that can be traced back to the rugged, remote mountains of Scottish Highlands (where their name comes from). This Heritage breed has the oldest herd book/ registry dating back to 1885.

It was while we were searching for a healthier beef alternative, we found Scottish Highland. Highland Beef is higher in protein and iron and lower in fat and cholesterol than commercial beef. Study after study, whether in the UK or the United States, have confirmed that Highland Beef is Comparable to chicken or fish.

Why Highland Beef is the best

DID YOU KNOW:

Mr. Schatzker author the book Steak, writes that “there was, however, one steak that I could not get out of my head: that red slice of Scottish loin from the bank of the river Earn, barely marbled, silky even when raw, its fat the color of butter. Angus Mackay’s Highland rib eye was the most flavorful steak I’d ever eaten. It was also the juiciest steak I’d ever eaten, and the tenderest, too”.

Studies in the UK list the quantities of fat per 100 grams as:
